about

Buckles here:

This song is about a personal period in my life when I felt very uncomfortable in my own skin. No matter how hard I tried, someone was always there to let me know that I didn't quite fit in. Wasn't cool enough. It took some time, but eventually I realized that true strength is finding the confidence to be uncool.

This song is my personal "fuck you" to the cool hunters who would crush the try-hards of the world under their disinterested $300 heel. But this song probably isn't cool enough for them to notice anyway.

It's tragic, really.

To my knowledge, this is the first full song whose development began after the start of Brunswick Project. As we pass into the second quarter and the release of our first album, Brunswick Project ALPHA, expect more of these newer ideas to emerge.

Speaking of that, fans of Brunswick may notice that the chorus in this song is a re-interpretation of a stray lyric from Steve's song "Something For Nothing," which was released in WEEK 3. WEEK 3/52: Something For Nothing (08/28/12) by Brunswick Project - so thanks to him for the lend. (And for really knocking the production out of the park on this release).

Also, thanks to my good friend and talented artist Shane Heron prettygoodcomics.blogspot.com who provided the art for the thumbnail image.

Cheers, hope you enjoy the track.

lyrics

O I haven't forgotten the tragic events of this past year (Burned in my mind all of the time)
O I haven't forgotten the tragic events of this past year (Burned in my mind all of the time)

Well she says she likes games, but those games, bruv I ain't playin' 'em
Seems a bare shelf to me.
And I don't know how lyin' there and stroking your pet makes you central
to the scene
Well she thinks that it's cool just to pick fights and walk away
Couldn't pay for the bone
Well I'd build you a throne but the legs kid are comin' loose
You can stand on your own

O I haven't forgotten the tragic events of this past year (Burned in my mind all of the time)
O I haven't forgotten the tragic events of this past year (Burned in my mind all of the time)

You can stand on your own
You can stand on your own
You can stand on your own own

Well stop!
Pretending it's a thing to out bad-ass anyone.
Couldn't pass for a fool
And I don't see how tryin' hard is something to jeer
Can't you see past keeping cool
Well I'd float you a finn but within yo, I ain't feelin' well
Just incredibly lean
Well I'd write you a song but the words, girl they are comin' out
Inexcusably mean

O I haven't forgotten the tragic events of this past year (Burned in my mind all of the time)
O I haven't forgotten the tragic events of this past year (Burned in my mind all of the time)
O I haven't forgotten the tragic events of this past year (Burned in my mind all of the time)
O I haven't forgotten the tragic events of this past year (Burned in my mind all of the time)
